The Outer Limits is one the best produced theme albums around, truly spectacular. This is by far my favorite Voivod album. It is a tasteful mix of progressive heavy rock with amazing unconventional guitar parts and sounds coupled with very syncopated drumming and stellar vocals. If your are a musician, this is required listening and playing/5(24).

Mar 25,  · referencing The Outer Limits, LP, Album, MCA This absolutely needs to be re-issued by a pofessional label and not a comany like Holy Roller, Night Of The Vinyl Dead or Back on Black with their shoddy, badly scanned covers and CD-sourced masters/5().

I'm not paying $ for this, but I'd throw down for a quality reissue in a heartbeat. Just listened to The Outer Limits for the first time in decades and it totally holds up! Terrific spacey hard rock/metal, like Rush mixed with Pink Floyd. In fact, there's an absolutely ripping cover of Floyd's "The Nile Song". All the songs are really rock /5(76).

After the disappointing showing of their album Angel Rat, Voivod took two years to produce a follow-up, 's The Outer although the band offers several strong compositions, it soon becomes apparent that Voivod had already peaked artistically on their three preceding albums. Perhaps the band's chemistry was knocked off balance by the defection of original bassist Jean-Yves.
